They say they replenish the whole party, but seem to only do the user.

I think you misunderstood squad for party. These potions replenish the VIT and ENE of the whole squad: your VIT and ENE plus the VIT and ENE got from your followers in your squad. This max VIT and ENE is what is shownin the shields at the main head.

Potions affect to the character (and squad) and scrolls affect to the party. You may learn more about them by mouseovering the "Potions & Scrolls" plate in the character screen:

The alchemist chest stores your one-time-use magic. The potions don't take up space in your inventory and you can store as many of them as you want.
Potions have an individual effect and you can use them anytime: in town, traveling, even during a fight. Besides Health and Mana potions that have an immediate effect, potions effects last until the next fight ends (or current fight if you are involved in a fight when you drink it).
Scrolls affect your whole party and their effects last until the end of the next travel (or when your party came back to town if you are traveling when you use a scroll). Town Portal is the exception, since it cannot be used at town and its effect is immediate.
Potions and scrolls effects are not accumulative.

They only change we made to this is the duration of the potions that have been extended to the whole adventure (with ambushes, you may have more than one fight in an only adventure).

For the English players, Alex, it does read like it means the whole party. I would think about rephrasing this.
